In case you miss it at the temporary splash page at Seminoles.com… this video appeared showing the improvements to the video boards for Doak Campbell Stadium this fall. All I can say is, “Woohoo!!!!”

Colon Blow

Will the Noles ever have a veteran team again? The flushing of the program continues with more players leaving the program. Warchant.com is featuring an article about the 2004 - 2006 class flop. I’d link you, but it’s premium, because you know premium content is important over there and we need to pay to see that Fred Rouse, Brandon Warren, etc. were flops for FSU.

ChantRant has issued their request for the 2008 Seminole Football Theme. Frankly, I think it’s dead on.

Andrew Carter offers talks about another FSU bust, Callahan Bright and about the Marcus Ball issue.

Tomahawk Nation got a colon cleansing of its own and a new site design. We’ll see how often it gets updated, although I think it’s interesting that a request for FSU Softball writers went out.

Hmm… who’s been the only one pushing softball coverage to the masses since 2004? That would be me… (pats self on back, seriously I just did).

What do you guys think? How bad is it? My gut reaction right now is that less than 9-4 is worse than 7-6 last year, thanks to the two FCS teams in 2008. Will there ever be a veteran class again? Is this just what the program needs before Jimbo Fisher takes over the program? Leave some comments, I want to hear your thoughts.

Update: Thanks to Chili at DFIG for pointing this out

BOOYAH THAT’S A CLEAN COLON

Stuart Scott

It just keeps getting better and better for the Noles, no? I guess on the bright side, the disciplinary problems are being dealt with, and that’s key to running a clean program. I’m all for a clean program, this isn’t Da U, although from recent headlines the line is seriously fuzzy.

Update: He has received a release from his football scholarship according to Warchant.com.

First off… check out the Seminoles.com homepage. It touts the fact that Doak Campbell Stadium will have a new look this fall. Judging from the fact that their still hawking season tickets, might that new look be lots of empty seats for the Noles’ games against FCS opponents?

Farooq is being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. I can honestly say that I although I didn’t get to see Ron Simmons play at FSU, I did get to see him and Bradshaw lay out a woodshed beating at a WWE SmackDown! taping in Tallahassee while I was in college at Florida State. He joins Deion Sanders as the only other FSU defensive player in the College Football Hall of Fame. Deion Sanders remains denied.

Also, Preston Parker had he Leon County charges dropped after paying his court costs. I’m sure you’ve heard about that already, and frankly it’s not big news. His other charges are the issue.

Oh yeah… and ChantRant comments on the fact that it’s not nice to play jokes on old people, like Bobby Bowden. Frankly, I thought this was pretty funny.

The FSU Baseball team rebounded from a mildly bad weekend at UNC last weekend, to sweep Stetson. The Noles needed a big 9th inning to put Stetson away, but thanks to Mike McGee, Buster Posey & company, FSU continues to look pretty good as the season slowly starts coming to and end, and the REAL season begins. The Seminoles take on Clemson starting on Saturday in a big three game series up in South Carolina. FSU needs to get back on the ball, so to speak, and win the series if not sweep the Tigers.

In other baseball news, Buster Posey was named to the Dick Howser Award watch list. It’s not a surprise considering Posey is 2nd in the nation in batting average, and leads the ACC. If he’s not a Top 5 draft pick, I’ll be shocked. I’ll be even more shocked if he’s back next season at Florida State with all of that money waiting for him. I’d love to see him in a Mets uniform someday, but I guess that’s highly unlikely.

The Seminole Softball team ended the season on a bit of a sour note. They lost the final two games of the season at Michigan. The Wolverines have basically owned the Noles as far as I can remember, so this isn’t a huge surprise. Tiffany McDonald remains two strikeouts short of the school record. The Noles begin ACC Tournament play on May 8. NCAA Regionals being May 16.

Basically, the Noles played exactly where I expected them to this season at 36-25. They’re young, they won a couple of games they shouldn’t have, and played pretty much to their talent level the rest of the way. It’s a shame that Tiffany McDonald doesn’t have any eligibility left, because the rest of the staff has been mediocre at best in 2008. The Seminoles will also look to replace Brittany Osmon and Whitney Buckmon, two players that have been fantastic. Buckmon, over the course of her career has been a pleasure to watch, and Osmon really put it all together in 2008 after showing flashes of “what might be” over her first three years.

It is nice to know that the middle of the infield, Kristie McConn and Ashley Stager are solid. They’re freshman, and I can only imagine how nicely they’ll work together over the next 3 years. Carly Wynn patrolling center is another very good thing for the Noles. So the future is pretty bright, if the pitching can settle down. Hopefully Pitching Coach, Barbara Sherwood, can make that happen.

I’m sure I could say something about the basketball team too, but why start now? Check out The Serious Tip… I’m sure there is SOMETHING in there about basketball, and if not… just read the other posts. They’re pretty entertaining.

As reported by Andrew Carter

I find the hire interesting… Floyd was certainly outspoken on Sun Sports…

<sarcasm>

Boy… I just love the fact that FSU went out on a limb to schedule Maine for a football game in 2009. That’s just fantastic, and I’m happy to pay $40+ to sit and watch that.

</sarcasm>

Check out the full story on Seminoles.com… and leave your thoughts in a comment as to why FSU Football is doing this, and slowly becoming more of a joke.

I’m in a poll mood again today… vote and comment.  The pull-it-out-of-my-rear record prediction right now is 9-4, thanks to those FCS division opponents, but who knows.

From the Palm Beach Post:

Parker is charged with possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed .45 caliber handgun in West Palm Beach.

… Just what the football team needed.

Forget about the fact that Friday night was brutal for the Noles, Saturday night was great and Sunday might have been a huge comeback had it not been for a travel curfew on Miami’s part.  The hatred between the FSU Baseball team and Miami Hurricanes went up another notch on the dial on Sunday, when the Canes decided to taunt the Noles at home plate, and then some classless FSU fans decided to spit on a Hurricane player and attempt to dump drinks on them.

Wake up fans, that was a poor move, no matter how moronic the Canes’ players acted.

The good news? Martin went to his bullpen early on Sunday, unlike Friday night. Although the results were mixed on Sunday, and generally bad, at least Elih Villanueva was out of there after being ineffective.  Mike McGee threw well, and the bats eventually woke up. Buster Posey must be counting $’s in his dreams. If he’s not a Top 5 pick at catcher in the MLB draft, I’ll be shocked. And, Jason Stidham looks like he’s coming out of a bit of a slump.

That’s all good news for the Noles, who have some tough ACC series remaining before the ACC tournament.

Ryan Strauss was more than effective against the Gators last night in a 4-2 victory, despite a rough start.  The Noles hit the ball well, although they struggled to get 4 runs. Up next for FSU is North Florida tonight, and then ACC rival Miami this weekend!
