Andrew Carter dug this up via Warchant… it’s a good laugh…
Florida State University is prepared to announce Lonni Alameda as the new Head Coach of Seminole Softball. Alameda heads to Tallahassee after coaching UNLV since June of 2003. Alameda posted a 132-118 157-158-1 record during her tenure there. The Rebels started off last season hot, defeating highly ranked opponents to go 9-1-1, but finished 25-40-1 overall and 5-15 in the Mountain West Conference. Prior to UNLV, she spent eight seasons at Stanford as an assistant coach, where she produced three All-American pitchers as the pitching coach.
Let the comments begin…

UPDATE:
Official Word from Seminoles.com - Florida State Hires Lonni Alameda To Head Softball Program
Of interest from the article on Alameda - “To Alameda, academics are just as important as on-the-field production. Since taking over the program, the Rebels have had 58 Academic All-MWC honorees. Over the past five years, the team has had 10 or more honored four times, including 11 softball student-athletes in 2008. The softball program has had 21 MWC Scholar-Athletes selected, as well.
During her tenure at UNLV, Alameda also stressed the importance of community service and had players volunteer their time at the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and Child Haven while participating in breast cancer walks and blood drives.”
Check it out… frankly most of the article is kind of obvious, but the guys at SMQ do a good job in general, and it’s worth a read.
So… the FSU Seminoles are no longer the ACC favorite.
All I have to say is DUH.
The Noles have been placed way too high in the preseason ACC polls for the last 5 years. I guess a “reputation” keeps you ranked highly, when you’re not deserving, kind of like Notre Dame. FSU had problems and they continue to have problems. Offensive Line? Thin, which means unless everyone stays healthy, there are less holes for the running backs and the quarterbacks spend a lot of time doing Ken O’Brien imitations.
FSU is picked to finish third in the Atlantic Division, behind ACC favorite Clemson and overachieving Wake Forest. What’s assinine is that the Noles managed to get a first place vote. What’s even more assinine? Miami, Georgia Tech and Virginia received first place votes in the Coastal Divsion. Hardee har har.
So what do you guys think? Is third about right? Should the Noles be lower, behind Boston College, Maryland and / or N.C. State?
Vote and comment! I’m sticking with Drew…
Methinks Seminoles.com is trying to take a bite out of Warchant… just check out today’s headline…

Loyal ScalpEm.com readers, you’ll remember I told you so last year right? Now that economy is in the crapper, and times are much tougher, and a schedule that features two exhibition games, FSU Football ticket sales are declining even more so says the Orlando Sentinel. Sales are down from last year 6 percent, which were down from 2006. Toss in the fact that the football team has been lackluster since 2001 and it’s a perfect storm for a half full Doak Campbell Stadium for many of the 2008 home games.
Seminoles.com has a new Doak Campbell Stadium Improvements photo gallery.
Jonathan Hannah ain’t gonna be a Nole over at ChantRant.
Buster Posey won the Golden Spikes. Gee, ya think?
Jordi is still in the running for FSU Softball Head Coach.
ScalpEm.com is invited to be a part of the Blogpoll. I’m accepting, but those Michigan boys had better not ask me to donate to the Rich Rod Regret Fund when it starts.
He has all of the qualifications… see what you guys think.
Operators are standing by…
It’s pretty safe to say that Louie Berndt won’t be Head Coach next season.
