It Doesn’t Matter Where FSU Finished 2011 / Blogpoll Ballot Time

Sixteenth. Seventeenth. Whatever.

The only thing I despise more than the final poll of the season is the preseason poll. Both are basically meaningless to me. Auburn won the BCS Championship Game last night. In my opinion that means a few years from now 2010′s season will be an orphan thanks to a vacated championship. Even if it’s not, where FSU finished this season in the polls is of little concern to me. They didn’t finish #1, as Ricky Bobby was taught, “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” While that’s shortsighted overall, it’s how I feel about the final poll. All it is during the season is a way to jockey for better bowls and/or the national championship. Now that the season is done, we know who is #1.

I already know the Noles are much improved and due for a better season next year. I don’t need to know how FSU ended up this season in a poll to tell me that. Much like the preseason poll next year won’t tell me much about the Noles at the end of the season. Either way, it’s time to submit my final Blogpoll Top 25 Ballot of the year. Auburn gets the championship obviously. Oregon gets my #2 vote because they were there until the end in the national championship game. TCU remains at #3. Oklahoma gets the benefit of my Ohio State / NCAA hatred, leaping 7 spots over them for beating UConn (really?). Central Florida gets my #17 #18 (I left out Arkansas initially, so behind them everyone was bumped down 1) vote for having the most wins in Florida this season.
