FSU’s Sarah Hamilton Is Better Than Danielle Lawrie

Well, in one category and that comes with a caveat. But the point of the matter is that Sarah Hamilton is good, very, very good. So is Terese Gober. The Noles will be a ton of fun to watch this year in Lonnie Alameda’s second season at FSU. The other point is that softball (and baseball of course) probably is the sport with the most inane statistics package. Seriously, I’ve seen the weirdest stats come out of baseball / softball guys. They all tell a story, but sometimes it’s just ridiculous.
As we head towards the season opener for FSU Softball on February 11th I wanted to make a few of points:
- Women’s softball is slowly gaining some popularity. ESPN (linked above) actually has a preview of the Top 20 teams this year (FSU comes in at #15). I’m not THAT crazy for being a fan. If you’re a baseball purist, watch some softball it’s like a throwback to the days before roids and gorillaball.
- Get out to a game if you can spare a couple of hours. It’s a lot of fun and it’s free and don’t forget to take the kids.
- Click that link at the top of sidebar and join one of the independent sport clubs at FSU. $50 helps those teams a lot.

FSU softball has such an easy schedule this year it’s a joke. They should be undefeated and in the top five by the time the conference games start. They dont play one ranked team in any preconference games. The best team they will play is Long Island, and if the shortstop at Long Island was still at Michigan State, they would of had a chance against FSU. Not going to the Garmin tournament in California to play some real teams will hurt the RPI big time. With the pitching they have this year, FSU should walk thru the weak ACC. Oh I forgot, Hamilton is a good pitcher, but not in the same league as Danielle Lawrie.
sbdude good too see you, you always provide solid insight in your comments and I appreciate that very much!
Yeah I agree with you, I have a feeling that it will be a fun season to watch as a fan, but I won’t know much about the team until the NCAA tournament. GT and UNC are the only ACC competitors. And I agree that Danielle Lawrie is in a class of her own, I just like to feature goofy stats sometimes since baseball / softball has so many of them that, in the end, prove absolutely nothing. :)
