New Year’s (a little late) Predictions
Posted by Lauren
Okay, right off the bat, I’ll admit this post is a month overdue, but hey at least it’s going up.
What follows is my personal (and some off-the-wall*) predictions about FSU sports, mostly football. 2010 has already proven to be an unprecedented year in FSU football history. Who would’ve guessed the retiring of our legendary coach would bring top recruits flooding into FSU? Who would’ve guessed Jimbo would assemble such a perfectly orchestrated staff, many with unique ties to the Florida area? Who would’ve guessed the fan base would feel so confident in the program after a nasty 7–6 year and a complete coaching overhaul? Well, to match the rollercoast offseason we’ve already had, here’s some more to think about.
I, Lauren, predict that…
1. FSU football will win a National Championship by 2015.
2. FSU will land a #1 recruiting class by 2014.
3. FSU’s Coach Coley will leave for a head coach job somewhere else (SEC?) by 2015…and land a top ten recruiting class his first year there.
4. FSU’s Myron Rolle will be selected to the Pro Bowl in all but two years of his NFL career.
5. FSU’s Patrick Robinson will have an interception run back for a TD his first year playing in the NFL.
6. FSU’s Track and Field will continue to dominate the NCAA in the 2010’s (not a big prediction there).
7. Both FSU’s baseball and softball teams will each win the College World Series in the same year before 2020.
8. FSU men’s basketball team will face a coaching overhaul within the next 3 years and will make the Final Four by 2017.
9. FSU women’s basketball will beat both Tennessee and UConn in the same year before 2020.
Bonus: 10. Coach Kelly will be fired from Notre Dame; Urban Meyer will leave Florida to coach the Irish; and Bryan Leach will end up at Florida as the Gators’ next head coach.
So there you have it. What predictions would you add?
*This post is, in no way, based on graphs, charts, calculations, or statistics. It’s purely for entertainment purposes.

I’d say many of those are pretty ballsy… but I think the least likely are the baseball and softball teams winning the CWS.
Baseball will not win one under Mike Martin, unless there is an incredible string of luck. I’m not showing Martin the door either, I’m perfectly fine with the baseball team as is, even without a CWS Championship.
The softball team has to do a lot to get over the hump. East Coast softball is not nearly as good as West Coast, and the SEC has two dominating teams in Alabama and Florida. Even a smaller school, like Florida Gulf Coast is on the right path to pulling a ton of recruits. I think Coach Lonnie Alameda has a good thing started, but I just don’t see a CWS title in the next 10 years unless luck is on the Noles side.
I think your most plausible is #9, btw. Coach Sue Semrau is and has done a hell of a job with that program.
NoleCC,
Glad you grabbed onto the whole “out-there” aspect of it. :)
Also, I love the work Coach Sue is doing with our women’s team. I think we’ve got high hopes there.
As far as men’s baseball, something tells me we have a breakout year sometime within the next 10 years. Whether that year comes the same year as the women’s has yet to be seen…but I’d like to think it does.
In my Opinion
#4 Myron Rolle’s career in the NFL will be brief by his choice, and the Pro Bowl pic is unlikely!
I predict he will have success in another career and receive recognition in the most important categories of God, Family and Community!
#10 A Coach being terminated from Notre Dame, big surprise!
Urban Meyer will not be a Coach at Notre Dame unless he makes a full confession concerning his sins of omission (like what do the Doctors really say about the stress of his job concerning personal health and fitness) Jesuits don’t like gray areas.
Luvunoles,
I agree Myron’s career will be short, and I’m excited to see what he goes on to accomplish afterward. He’s got so much potential. But I do think he has a big impact when he comes into the league. He’s a good player, and had the potential to be a good safety. Plus he’s a likable guy and will be a fan-favorite (hence the Pro-Bowl reference).
As far as Meyer, who knows with that guy! :)
I continue to love your loathing of Notre Dame Luvunoles. :)
