I must be eating enough fiber these days, because my gut feels good! I’m also excited since I will be returning to Doak for my first home game since my little broken face accident at the end of September. Let’s get to it!

For the Terps

• Maryland is suffering through a horrible season, they’re 2-8.
• They are heading into Doak Campbell Stadium with a backup QB.
• They have a very good wide receiver in sophomore Torrey Smith.
• The Terps defense is the WORST in the league giving up nearly 33 points per game. That’s right, they’re worse than the FSU defense in terms of scoring.
• They are everything is soulless and evil in the world. In other words, they wear Under Armour uniforms.

For the Noles

• E.J. Manuel looked more than capable of running the FSU offense in place of injured Christian Ponder.
• Jermaine Thomas is on a tear at RB. He has a shot at 1,000 yards on the season if he keeps it up.
• The Noles should be “up” for the game, with new Nike uniforms, Senior Day, Mickey Andrews‘ final home game, Nick Menacof’s final game (Doak Campbell Stadium Announcer for the last 25 years) and maybe just maybe Head Coach Bobby Bowden’s final game.
• The FSU Defense has been adequate over the last two contests, and should be adequate against an inexperienced Maryland QB.
• FSU Special Teams are playing well, Greg Reid had a TD return last week and Dustin Hopkins is getting the right bounces.

Prediction

This SHOULD be an easy win for the Seminoles. But we all know that the Noles can’t take anything for granted anymore. The Nike uniforms have black helmets, for what it’s worth, and we all know how a black uniform combination works out for FSU. Hopefully, the garnet on garnet combo (which FSU is 8-1 under with the old style uniforms) can combat the bad mojo of black in the uniform. Of course in reality none of that should matter.

Things that should matter? The rain is supposed to hold off until after that game. That’s good for FSU. The running game is solid lately. I’m worried that E.J. Manuel might have a 2nd game let down, but I’m hopeful that Jimbo Fisher’s game plan simply won’t let that happen. And quite honestly, Maryland is just a bad team right now. There are no excuses for FSU to NOT become bowl eligible this weekend. I think the Noles will send Mickey Andrews out with some style and class, with a nice thumping of Maryland at Doak Campbell Stadium!
