Post FSU / Wake Forest Thoughts And Looking At The ACC

About Last Weekend

Well, well, well, the Seminoles of Florida State certainly shut me up with my 2TD victory by Wake Forest prediction. Not only did E.J. Manuel look solid in his debut replacing the injured Christian Ponder, but the running game was spectacular and the defense make the Demon Deacons look pretty bad. Even Dustin Hopkins had the sun shining down upon him from the heavens, with a kick that hit the right post, but went through! All in all, it was a game that wasn’t stressful to watch if you’re a Seminole fan. I love not being stressed watching a game.

  • What’s the deal with the Wake Forest dance team being up on risers, directly in front of the first row at BB&T? I could see where that might be a benefit to some, but to others it has to be annoying.
  • Ty Jones scored a TD, and then disappeared again. I guess with Jermaine Thomas running like a man, the other players aren’t going to see the field quite as much.
  • Greg Reid finally got that TD return I’ve been looking for for the last few weeks, and he made Wake’s kicker look silly in the process. I mean, kickers look silly in general, but the juke Greg put on him was great.
  • I thought Jarmon Fortson’s hit on Wake Forest S Cyhl Quarles was illegal and should have been flagged for helmet to helmet contact by the referees. Upon further review, DAMN that hit was big, and not nearly as helmet to helmet as I thought. Fortson’s got one strong right shoulder.
  • A meat & cheese tray, cocktail weenies and taco soup work out well in the “Home Tailgating Environment.”
  • I was able to mount my TV over the fireplace with my overkill wood box / mount setup after the game without it falling on my head or any cussing at it. That concluded the best day of FSU Football this season for me.

The ACC Hit Parade

  • I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why ANYBODY is all over Miami’s Jacory Harris as some all-star. I proceeded to watch him throw 4 more INTs against North Carolina last weekend. I’m sorry, but why is / was he in the same breath as Christian Ponder for best QB in the ACC? Anton Azucar explains that a 10 win season is a must for the Canes now.
  • My Clemson buddies, Chili and Willy Mac are all excited over at Block-C.com. As Dabo Swinney pointed out, the Tigers are ALL IN AND ONLY 4 QUARTERS FROM TAMPA VIA DEATH VALLEY AND SOME PLANE / CAR RIDES TO THE STADIUM. Or something like that.
  • The guys at From The Rumble Seat are overly excited about saying “ACC Coastal Division Champions.” Wow, really? I dunno, maybe the 90’s are still stuck in my head, but I remember when ACC Champion was just an incidental title FSU got on the way to play for a national title. I know that’s not how it is NOW, mind you, but divisional champion isn’t something I’ll ever get excited about as a fan. Unless it’s the New York Mets, and then I’m taking what I can get.
  • My favorite ACC Referee, Jack Childress & his crew made the right call on the field at the Miami / UNC game, on one hell of a crazy play. Nice job gentlemen, continue the good work and I can only hope your crew is travelling to Gainesville with FSU in a few weeks.
  • It’s ACC Basketball season, which for me means that I can catch up on my DVR’d shows, watch some movies on the Bluray thanks to Netflix and FSU Softball isn’t too far away for me.

I think Fortson’s hit was a demonstration for CP7. “There ya go, bubba. That’s how you knock the **** out anyone who dares to intercept a Nole pass”

NoleCC, Could you get Nancy to give us a break down on the softball recruits, as well as the softball teams fall season.

I’m sure she will when she stops by again. :) I’m sorry that I don’t have more on the fall season for everyone, my intent was to get out to see them, but my surgery / recovery prevented that.

February 11th marks opening day at JoAnne Graf Field!

Ty didn’t disappear he is just not the chosen one. Hard for him to produce when he doesn’t see the field.
