FSU Football Thoughts From The Last Few Weeks

7

Posted by NoleCC

I’m back from my EPIC FAIL at softball a few weeks ago, when a lovely softball decided to shatter and break parts of the right side of my face. Things are slowly healing up, and I’m well enough to provide some thoughts on the last few weeks. Some of these aren’t the most timely, but better late than never right?

  • The Boston College game was rough, but I didn’t enjoy all of the goodwill spread for Mark Herzlich. I’m also very thankful that he’s cancer free. It was a good story, and I’m glad that College Gameday made it for the game. It was an extra 2 hours of coverage that the game wouldn’t receive otherwise.
  • The Georgia Tech game didn’t surprise me at all. Frankly, if I was surprised by anything it was that FSU continued scoring as well as it did. I thought GT’s defense was slightly better, and I underestimated the FSU offense a bit. It’s just hard to believe that an offense is pretty much going to score every time it’s on the field.
  • The failed blackout was a good thing. The overwhelming support for Bobby Bowden on the same night was not. ESPN plays to the general audience, so I think they’re a good pulse on what the average fan thinks. ESPN basically seems to think Bowden is bigger than FSU and the FSU Football program. He shouldn’t be.
  • On the other side of that, I don’t totally blame Bowden either, I blame the FSU Administration a ton. The whole business of erecting statues of currently sitting coaches, naming fields after them, etc. etc. was garbage. And the idea of a coach telling the administration whether or not “he’s coming back” is asinine.
  • I really didn’t think the Noles would pull out a victory at UNC on a Thursday, but I was glad to see that comeback. Kudos to both sides of the ball for the 2nd half.
  • Christian Ponder is a great, great talent and should go down as that in FSU History. Sadly, I don’t think he’ll get a chance to play for an MNC, or even an ACC Championship unless major changes happen.
  • The wide receivers as a unit are much better than anyone predicted. The running backs, not so much.
  • T.J. Yates is awful.
  • The rest of the games this past weekend were boring. Frankly, it’s the first time in a while that I didn’t spend most of my waking hours on a Saturday watching football.
  • I’m hopeful that I’ll be in attendance on Saturday for the N.C. State game, but a lot depends on how the week goes and the weather on Saturday.

    Welcome back.

This offense is elite. Jimbo and Ponder deserve all the credit in the world. The Bobby support is horribly sad. I’ve lost faith in the reasonability of most FSU fans. The rest of the season will be interesting.

    WELCOME BACK NoleCC!
May I suggest that the student section start chanting Christian Ponder from the stands this weekend to reward this young man for continuing to play better each week and for attempting to give good example and provide leadership for the team.

Glad your back NoleCC! As far as BB I’m fed up and will not be attending anymore football games until there is change. But will be supporting female programs. How about the soccer team knocking off UNC? That’s BIG

Noleit, I’m just curious about what that proves considering you already paid for the tix? Why not donate them to a worthwhile cause?

It’s just the ASS in me. I’d rather leave them empty.I know that might not seem right for some, but for me thats what I’m doing. I will give up my seats for next year also.
