Fans Logic Mind Boggling To Me At Times

I’ve been looking around the ‘Net lately, and when it comes to UF and their own criminal problems, it seems that the argument is, “Well the problems are all Zook’s kids, so don’t blame Meyer.” That’s what some Gator fans are saying. Seminole fans are quit to jump on Gator fans saying that Meyer is also to blame, that Gator’s should be laying their problems on Zook.

Then, many Seminole fans out there are saying that Jimbo isn’t to blame for FSU’s problems because the 2007 class is the problem, and they were “Jeff Bowden’s kids.”

Hypocritical, no?

There is an underlying attitude with a growing percentage of college athletes across the country. The athletes are feeling entitiled. First, to go to college to play a sport. Second, they expect to get the scholarship money that enables them to bypass the debt that burdens so many of their fellow college students. Third, before many of them graduate, they decide to leave college to pursue a career. Then these athletes are expecting sign-on bonuses and money making endorsements before they have experienced one day on a real job. (Real job is defined by working every day and when you don’t produce, or if you break the rules, you pay the price of no pay and/or no job) Are the coaches, recruiters or administrators over-stating how the athlete’s future can benefit from the television and press at the major institutions of learning? It has become painfully clear that we are recruiting some athletes that have shown little respect for self, family, and education during their formative high school years. Some of these elite athletes talk about being disrespected while they disrespect the laws of the community and school. Then these athletes expect to be given another opportunity because they just didn’t understand or were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps the coaches and the administrators should start looking at the players who show as much work on the academics in high school as they did toward the sports. Perhaps the coaches and administrators should look toward the majority of the student athletes that work hard on and off the field and show personal integrity and strength of character. Yes, talent is important, but let’s stop making excuses for the minority of players and start looking toward developing the talents of those athletes that value their education and respect and value the laws of their community, school and team. Does it really make any difference if the recruiting was yesterday? Let’s start making the message clear TODAY!

Is Jimbo in control? No. Bobby has official control and has hired his cronies to run the discipline side of things. He doesn’t have the power Meyer has.

    Bowden has wrecked our program.
