Rare Weekend Update, Noles Beat Marist And A Quick Football Ticket Thought

Baseball:

The Noles beat Marist last night, after a lengthy delay caused by lightning in the first game. The Noles 4pm game actually started around 9:30pm! FSU takes on Georgia today (they have some rather big country boys on that team that can tatoo a ball) at 4pm. The losers bracket game between Marist and Ohio State starts at 12. The Seminoles are going to need a big helping of offense today to get by Georgia in my opinion. Hopefully a little homefield advantage will help out FSU, along with a strong performance from Sean Gilmartin. We shall see.

Football:

Quick tidbit, season ticket sales are down again, supposedly into the 5% range. That’s a lot of cash, and a lot of empty seats at Doak. Maybe I’ll get those upgraded seats this year and not have to be all ticked off about having a seating change forced on me thanks to the “seating reconfiguration” of the stadium.

  1. FSU dropping bombs against Ohio State. Hooolleey Crap!

@1 It was insane, almost embarrassing. I think Ohio State just ran out of pitching and energy. Maybe the heat got to them too. I was shocked by how mediocre Georgia’s pitching came across though, once the top 2 starters were out. Their bats were solid, but failed them against OSU in the early game.

I’m sure you are broken hearted about Dawg losses though WF LOL.

Egad! tOSU gets pounded by another Florida team in yet another sport in championship competition…

    NIce work, Noles!

    As to the other…

Besides the obvious issues of Tally’s out of the way positioning and a down economy affecting ticket sales…

Do you feel the recent struggles on field, uncertainty by Bowden on stepping down and the wasteful appeal process is adding to the disillusion in the Nole fan base thereby pushing ticket sales down yet lower again this year, NCC?

I think the struggles on the field more than Bowden taking his time stepping down makes it an easier decision to give up tickets. Toss in the fact that they “moved” some season ticket holders to “better or equivalent seating” due a seating reconfiguration, but didn’t tell us where the seats are until long after the renewal date for season tickets, and it’s just kind of a perfect storm for renewal problems. The appeal process is stupid, imho, but I also believe that every other school out there would do it. I’m just a bit ticked off that my Booster money is being wasted on laywers, when all Seminole Boosters, Inc. wants you to believe is that the money is for scholarships for the kids. Yeah it is, but it’s also for a lot of other stuff.

    Ok…

That makes no sense at all…

How/why in the hell would a long time annual season ticket holder pay for their tickets and not have any idea where they would be sitting?

Who is running things up there in the ticket office?

    So, NCC…

Do you have any idea where you are actually sitting yet then?

They reconfigured the stadium, so that the visitor seats are in the nosebleeds in a corner. However, my seats were Row 68 on the 10… I love them, since I don’t like to sit below Row 40ish. In FSU’s infinite wisdom, my section and the three to my left (corner) are being reconfigured, and folks are being moved to “comparable” seats closer to the field. The problem is that they can’t fit my whole section into the first half of it, so I’m betting that I get put a section or two over more in the corner. We shall see. I might get lucky with my ticket move request, since renewals are down again, but I doubt it.

Mediocre Football + Seats I don’t like + I can still go to a couple of games per year + HDTV might just equal me not renewing next year. We’ll see.

In their infinite wisdom they’ve also moved the small student section around the Marching Chiefs, away from them to sit on the other side of the stadium with the majority of the students, basically isolating the Chiefs. Brilliant no?

Between the Boosters always screwing up where my club money goes, and the ticket office being a pain in the ass, it’s been a very frustrating couple of seasons as a fan, alumnus and booster. And they wonder why people are bailing out?

    Guh…

I pay an assload of booster fee but at least I know my Sec 12 aisle seat will always be there for a comfortable session of leg stretching or standing when needed…

For a newbie coming in for season passes in Hogtown, the booster fee alone will set you back $4200 before even paying for the tickets…

And there is no guarantee that the seats won’t be way up in the “Sunshine” (read “Sunburn”) seats in the North EZ of Benny Hill…

Perhaps this is a good time to start snatching up as many seats as possible before the winning ways return in Tally…

Buttloads of money to be made on StubHub later when the ship rights it’s course, my man…

  8. NoleCCNo Gravatar says:

@7… yeah I can’t imagine having to cough up that much for a booster fee, so I try not to bitch too much. You make a good point about StubHub though, I should consider that, especially if I can get good seats.
