Seminole Baseball Chokes, Still Hosts Regional

I really don’t have a lot to say about yesterday’s ACC Baseball Championship Game. Andrew Carter sums everything up pretty well on his blog, pointing out the wild pitches, errors, etc. The only thing I can add to his thoughts is that teams tend to take on a manager’s (or in this case head coach’s) personality, and the Noles were wound up, tight and uncomfortable yesterday against Virginia. FSU had plenty of opportunities to put the game away, including the bottom of the 8th, when they left the bases loaded. It’s a shame for FSU, and I still can’t believe there wasn’t someone else in the bullpen that could throw other than Gilmartin, who had already done his duty for the weekend.

What will be more interesting today, is whether or not FSU ends up as a national seed (I doubt it) for the NCAA Regionals. Tallahassee, will host a regional next weekend either way, so it means one more weekend of baseball for me! Let’s hope the Noles learned from the mistakes they made yesterday.

You have an over-rated coach who doesn’t know when to pull a pitcher, or who to put in, judging from the Virginia game. Most coaches with long consecutive regional appearances have won at least one CWS !

Congratulations – - Mike Martin shows his sportsmanship again ! Too bad he’s a loser when it really counts.
