Tomahawk Nation Spewing Hate Again

4

We’re going to be in a ton of shoot-outs next year.  Bobby’s record against UF now sits at 17-17-1, 2-6 since he forced the Jeff decision down the throats of reasonable objectors. Him and Mickey deserve to have 80 dropped on them in the Swamp to end their careers as a fitting finish to their lazy and selfish actions of this decade.

Someone’s a little cranky over there no? What do ScalpEm readers have to say about that? Go read the entire article… because it’s a great comparision between the 2007 / 2008 squad, but I think it’s interesting that the above was fit in at the end. ANGER. HATE. WHY ARE WE YELLING AGAIN!?

Quit complaining about other blogs. Seminole nation as a whole doesn’t agree with everything related to FSU athletics (yes, Seminole nation the fan base, not Tomahawk Nation). Some see the season as a step forward, some a step backward. Opinions vary. But making the headline “TN spewing hate again” doesn’t do anyone any favors, but proves that our fans and faithful are still torn into various views.

TN did a great job comparing the two teams from this and last season. Any Nole fan that doesn’t have concern, take a jab, complain or express anger towards the Noles, well probably isn’t a true fan that has a true emotional connection to the university.

With the way we ended this season, I would be upset if we kissed FSU’s ass and patted them on their backs for a winning season without throwing criticism and anger as well.

As a reader of both blogs, I have to side with TN because emotion is shown, feelings are expressed. Yes, I am proud of the season we had and the steps we made forward. But at the same time, there is a curtain over our true colors that many fans can’t see through…the same fans that are “upset” that other media outlets and blogs are “hating” on our team.

Ride the ups and the downs, and accept the emotion and feelings that come with both. That is what makes a true fan. Without that, people are just bandwagon riders.

“We’ll come back,” Bowden declared. “All you have to do is study history. We’ll ebb and flow again.

“They’re having their day right now, but I believe Florida State will be back.”

Then the 79-year-old coach let slip a candid observation, one that may get lost among all the second-day analysis of FSU’s fourth loss of the season.

He was still talking about Florida State’s revival: “Somebody’ll see it. It might happen when I’m here — but I doubt it. I don’t know.”

I think I disagree with the title “Tomahawk Nation Spewing Hate Again”. As Anonymous points out, there has to be some honest evaluation of progress (or lack thereof) and the reasons for it. Certainly I’ve have been, and remain, a big fan of Mickey. I’ve known him for years, and think the world of him. However, the defense over the past couple of years (4-5 at least) have not been up to the defenses that we’ve had in the past. When you look at what has changed (the players) and what hasn’t, then maybe what hasn’t becomes part of the problem? I’d hate to see Mickey go, but at the same time it very well might be time to think about a new direction. Based on the numbers outlined by TN, the offense dramatically improved over the course of a single year… what would happen if they did it again next year AND the defense improved as much?

My point is that the comment had nothing to do with an otherwise well-written article over there, ThirdCoast.

“Ride the ups and the downs, and accept the emotion and feelings that come with both. That is what makes a true fan. Without that, people are just bandwagon riders.”

First off, the fact that in another article TN stated that they’re done with investing emotion into the team complete contradicts what you’re saying. But that’s their choice. The other point is that I’ve already spewed all of this 2-3 years ago in the J.B. era. It proves nothing, when the field is already named after Bowden. He goes when it feels like it, there’s nothing anyone can do about it, so quit bitching about it.
