Randy’s Rants: Year 2, Game 5
Posted by NoleCC
I’m back, not to say I missed the last game, but life tends to be busy with a new baby at home, which is why my article is late this week.  I’ve already been told that I’ll have my pay docked if this doesn’t stop, but who’s paying me?
Anyways, on to the good stuff: I’m getting bored with the baton-twirlers. The 3-4 flaming batons just aren’t doing it for me anymore. I have suggested maybe knives or chainsaws. Hell, I’d even settle for one chainsaw, as long as it is being thrown in the air and somebody is attempting to catch it.
Huh?
Oh, yeah, I’m supposed to be taking about the game…
Lets see, prior to the game I was confident we were about to witness a blowout. Part way though the first quarter, I was fearful we were about to be on the wrong side of it. The good news is that Gano apparently has a bionic leg and Neefy has good hands and balance to pull us even. Thomas and Smith pounded the ball all game long.
Ponder made some big passes when needed. The only real sore spot was the interception in the end-zone that allowed Clemson to pull themselves back into the game (although that was also aided by the special teams play that led to a first down for roughing the kicker).
Speaking of which, Tony Carter, if I was your coach I’d probably still have you by the face-mask screaming at you for diving for and missing that punt. I HATE when players dive the make catches on kicks. You had plenty of time and space for that matter to get under the ball and make a proper catch. I applaud the coaching staff for not allowing him to receive another kick.
Speaking of kicking, the Noles had nice returns and good starting field position all day. The only thing I may have done differently on special teams is I would have let Gano attempt the 60 yard field goal prior to the half. He had the wind with him and I’m pretty sure about that bionic leg thing. It must be terrible getting through airport security.
Quick prediction for this week: Noles by a field goal. BC has been up and down recently.

Did the coaching staff say that Tony is officially done taking kicks? Sweet
TN,
I’m assuming it was for the rest of that game. Not for the season.
I have no actual factual news in my articles. Sorry for any confusion. Maybe we need a disclaimer about that…
