69-0, But Are The Seminoles That Good?

Thoughts From The Abyss following Saturday’s win by the Noles
I LOVE the new end zones and the new North End Zone scoreboard. It’s a long overdue change for sure. I still hate the double post goal posts, and the South End Zone video board is a bit goofy looking thanks to the way they had to rig it. Also, the camera men must be pleased to have some cover under the University Center now.
It took a quarter and a half, but Christian Ponder was as good as advertised once he got rolling.
Who’s going to be the first to whine about all the bubble screens we’re about to see over the next decade?
I stand by my statement that D’vontrey Richardson will be the starter for the Noles, eventually. No wonder Jimbo Fisher is so high on him. 50+ yards on a TD run? Nice job D’vo!
FSU has some good Wide Receivers. Are they that good against good competition?
Special Teams, specifically the kicking game might bury the Noles if they aren’t careful.
The ACC is winnable, provided the effort remains and the Noles continue to improve every week, including the games they will lose. The youngsters need to learn a lot still, but they have the opportunity to use this season to bring the Noles back into the national spotlight in 2009 and 2010.
The defense needs to improve, and they will get better when some of the suspended players return.
Is anyone else worried about what happens in October when the NCAA sanctions are handed down?
Sanctions, yes, we are worried!
On another note, congratulations to the Chief and Renegade who are celebrating 30 years! Would it be too much to ask the Chief and Renegade to acknowledge the fans who surround the field? We were soaking wet in the rain and the Chief would ride to just past mid-field and then turn around and return to the student section.
How about the student enthusiasm on Saturday night? They sang and cheered and kept many of our spirits up during the weather delays!
The ‘Noles are “that good.” The question is how good is “that good”? Phil Steele places UT-C below WCU, 16 spots below.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Noles can top OU’s score over Chat… 57-2.
“Is anyone else worried about what happens in October when the NCAA sanctions are handed down?”
Yes, very worried. NCAA seems to stack charges against FSU like no other. I am still not sure how this is a athletic scandal. Did not this “test” go out to all students, not just athletes? If that is the case why is it not an academic issue to be handled by the school? Why… because it is Florida State.
Well it is being handled by the school, but your average joe student can’t be suspended for four games. Athletes are supposedly held to a higher standard than the average student at FSU, whether that’s fair or not.
I have an awful feeling that it’s going to be bad in the scholarship department for the next 3-4 years.
