Pre-Football Season FSU Website Rankings From Worst To Best
Posted by William Kristoph
If you didn’t catch my first edition of “ranking the other websites” then check it out. I did it back in January, and I’m doing it again as we head towards the football season.
Tomahawk Nation -Is it dead? There is no regular posting there, even with the improved SBNation layout.
NoleDigest.com -The ugly layout means it’s hard to navigate. For all I know it has the best information out there, but I just don’t bother trying to find it.
Scott Carter’s Seminoles Report (Tampa Tribune) – Scott is a reporter for the Tampa Tribune. I like his style, but like I said last time, it needs to be more frequent with more pertinent information.
Garnet And Great – One of Rich Halten’s babies. If you haven’t read it, check it out. And if you wonder which came first G and G or Warchant’s Where Are They Now? It was Rich and G and G.
Warchant.com – It’s the most popular for sure, but everything is “premium” content. Funny, you can find most of it for free elsewhere. Sometimes before it shows up on Warchant. That said, it has the largest community of fans, and is worth a daily look.
Nolefans.com – EVERY STAT YOU’LL EVER NEED. Thanks guys!
ChantRant – Another one of Rich’s websites. I like to think of ChantRant as the “cerebral” FSU website. Rich always has interesting angles on the topics he posts, and is one of the FSU bloggers that isn’t afraid to question the status quo. I’m all for that!
NoleSports.com (Tallahassee Democrat) -Â The Democrat continues to bring more and more coverage to the fans. Although I don’t always think it’s the best article, or the freshes angle, they have tons and tons of content that’s free. I can’t argue with that, nor would I want to.
Seminoles.com – The official site of Florida State. If you want the official word, head over there. If you want insider photos, like of the Doak Campbell Stadium improvements, head over there.
Andrew Carter’s Chopping Block (Orlando Sentinel) – All I can say is, Andrew Carter can’t keep up this pace. If he does, he’s going to burn out halfway through the season. While that’s bad for him, it’s good for Seminole fans. Carter has been burning up his blog with practice updates, interviews and bonus coverage you can’t find at the Orlando Sentinel’s regular sports page. Kudos to Andrew. It’s my favorite FSU blog.
Too new to be eligible:
FSUncensored – All I’m going to say is that is has a lot of potential, but the site design needs some work. Get past the red and yellow and read the content. There’s some good stuff. If they keep it up, they’ll be highly ranked in this list.
Others not mentioned:
There are a few other blogs out there that I choose not to include, simply because they’ve either caused problems here at ScalpEm, they’re just basically a rehash of press releases, or their blog isn’t ususally about FSU (Jordi don’t take offense) or I don’t know about them. If it’s the latter case, send me an email to let me know about your site.
Where does ScalpEm rank? It’s my favorite (duh). What do you guys think? Does it suck? Is it in the middle? Most importantly though, I hope it inspires others to get started, and that it pushes all the FSU related websites to cover things they might not otherwise cover. Keep it up fellow bloggers! And as always, writers are welcome here too, just email me about a writers account and we can get you heard by the over 500,000 visitors ScalpEm has hosted in the last year.
I appreciate the rep, CC.
Ha, ha! Not offended at all. Considering I get all my information from you guys and Andrew Carter, I only to try to fill the gaps on what you guys don’t ordinarily talk about (hoops, for example). Otherwise, unless I have a unique perspective (like why I should be softball coach), I’d just be re-hashing. Of course, you guys and Andrew Carter are 1A and 1B in my opinion.
Isn’t Scott Carter’s Seminole Report dead?
Anon…. duly updated. I was under the impression it was around, but upon further review I’m wrong (again, go figure).
NCC, I love that this site is perhaps the one and only Nole site I can come to and honestly lay down my opinion as an outsider and perceived enemy while receiving honest and thoughtful response and dialogue in return without the conversation ultimately veering off to insults…
Keep up the good work and the terrific attitude…
Your truly a class act, brother…
(Did i just call a Nole “brother”? Jeez, I gotta lay off the “Puffy” Moss Special)
Thanks GH… we don’t always agree, but I always respect your opinion… good to see you around and thanks for the kind words!

Thank you for posting that Anon… I’m promoting it up to a full post.
