Not So Breaking News: Seminole Men’s Basketball Continues To Reek

This time it was the Virginia Tech Hokies beating the Noles, 89-80. I know Leonard Hamilton had a great history of coaching before coming to FSU, but I also know FSU Hoops has been pretty awful for 15 years now. Which makes me wonder why Hamilton got an extension before the season started, and how long he might actually be around after FSU hires a new Athletic Director?

What do the readers think? Give me and your fellow readers some insight, since I really don’t know a ton about FSU Hoops.

TK giving Leonard an extension right before the season started was just absolutely the wrong thing to do. Now FSU is locked into him for at least two more years. But they were scared of losing the recruits he got last November. So what? There is no guarantee that they will get to the NCAA next season. In fact it’s probably a good bet they won’t b/c instead of being the most veteran team we will now be one of the youngest with 5 FR and 1 JUCO player coming in. Since Leonard does not like to use FR too much we will be using a lot of sophomores. And with Julian’s heart condition limiting his play and Solomon gone for the season which only puts him behind the learning curve that’s not a lot of experience either. So now you area talking about 7 and maybe 8 years without being in the NCAA. That’s just unacceptable. You mentioned Leonard being a great coach before he got to FSU. Look, I like the guy b/c he does some things well, recruits quality young men, and sees that they graduate. But look at his record. He has just 3 NCAA appearances to show for all his years as a head coach. Plus his win loss record is not that much over .500. Yes, I know about the Miami program how that was basically from scratch. Still, six years and no NCAA appearance got Tommy Amaker fired from Michigan. TK however was willing to extend a guy’s contract BEFORE the sixth season started in a year where it was questionable that FSU would make the NCAA b/c of the loss of Al Thornton.
