Booker’s gone 4-of-4 from behind the arc the past two games after not make any his first 49 games. No doubt his biggest one came with the game clock winding down and Florida State ahead 67-64.

On Trevor Booker’s three pointers “He’s been knocking down shots,” Oglesby said. “I’m not going to argue with him.”

“I kept thinking, ‘Glass, glass, glass, glass,”‘ said Booker, who finished with 29 points.

“I was looking to shoot the whole time,” said Booker, who made all three 3-pointers he took on his way to a game-high 29 points. “I thought there were two seconds left when I caught the ball, thought, ‘Good shot, good shot,’ and it went in.”

“Book’s developing his game all the time,” Purnell said. “We’ve been working with him on the three…He needs to be able to shoot that shot to keep people honest. He needed to take more of a leadership role (these last two games) with Mays injury, and he has.”

“I didn’t know how much time was left so I just put it up as quick as possible,” Mays said. “Never two buzzer beaters. But they were big and we needed them.”

Hamilton says that led to Clemson getting the second and third chances. “Every big one they had to have it seemed like they got,” Hamilton said.

“I don’t want to call them ‘miracle shots,’” Hamilton said.

“Booker’s and Mays’ shots were shots that big-time players make,” FSU coach Leonard Hamilton said.

“Those were some tough shots,” FSU guard Toney Douglas said. “I call those hope-to-Jesus shots.”

“I don’t even know what to say,” FSU senior Jason Rich said. “I’ve never seen two in a row like that.”

“That’s the ACC,” said senior guard Ralph Mims, who came off the bench to score 16 points (all after halftime). “Things like that happen in the ACC. It shows that we can compete and if we have that kind of effort, we’re going to have opportunities like that.”

“That’s just the way college basketball and the ACC is,” Rich said. “I don’t even know what I can say.”

“It was like deja vu. We went through that once (last second loss to UNC). We didn’t want to go through it twice,” Clemson forward James Mays said.

“We were going to win,” he said. “Sam Perry was yelling on the bench, ‘We got this now! We got this now!’ After you get that much momentum, you really feel confident.”

The Tigers became the first team in ACC history to start league play with two overtime games. Clemson coach Oliver Purnell is ready for more drama this season. “It’s like this every game in the ACC,” he said.

“We got pretty good looks and we got shots guys are accustomed to getting,” said senior Jason Rich, who 11 points and 10 rebounds in 48 minutes. “That’s the good thing about this team. We have a very balanced attack.”

“My body is hurting,” Douglas said. “I’m hurting right now.”

“I thought our guys played with a tremendous amount of character,” Hamilton said. “And I think they grew up a little.”

“You have to give Clemson a lot of credit,” he said. “They made two exceptionally tough shots that they had to make. It was the mark of players with a lot of focus and determination. Booker and Mays’ shots were shots that big-time players make. If there was a moral victory, it would be that we played to our potential. The ACC is very unforgiving.”

“I’m mad, because we lost,” Douglas said. “But it was an exciting game. I’m proud of the team. We left it all out there.”

“We were put behind the 8-ball,” Clemson coach Oliver Purnell said, his voice hoarse with emotion. “If you don’t win the game, you’re 0-2 in the ACC with a tough road coming. Anytime you lose a couple in a row in this league, you’re put behind the 8-ball. This gives us a lot more faith and confidence.”

“We talked about (focus) before the game started tonight,” Purnell said. “To lose three in a row at the end of the game would have messed with our confidence. We’ve won a bunch like that this year, and we needed this one.”

“I don’t think any of our fans that have seen our first two ACC games will miss another ACC game all year,” Purnell said.

“This is the way its going to be, said freshman long ball artist Terrence Oglesby. We have to play these games from start to finish and tonight we got the finish part figured out.”

“I guess I got in a little groove out there,” Oglesby said.

“That shot kind of got me out of my funk a little bit,” Oglesby said. “Hitting that was like having a big weight lifted off my shoulders.”

“He (Oglesby) works really hard,” Purnell said. “Tomorrow night after practice he’ll be in the gym shooting — sometimes six, eight, 10 hours. That’s why he’s got such great form.”

“It was tough to get ready for this ballgame, but we met this challenge,” Clemson coach Oliver Purnell said. “A loss would’ve put us behind the 8 ball.”
