FSU Weekend Review 4-30-2007

I fully admit it, I had other, better things to do over the weekend, so I was not a very good Seminole fan. I didn’t watch the FSU – Miami baseball series. I didn’t watch Seminole Softball. I purposely didn’t catch the NFL draft. I saw most of the Mets game yesterday and a bit of NASCAR, but whatever I’m going to pull a review of out a hat for my loyal readers, aka chili and Willy Mac (from DannyFordIsGod.com).
FSU Baseball – All hail the Noles. FSU took two of three from Miami. The only downside to the weekend was that the Noles didn’t find a third starter to replace Michael Hyde, yet. Other than that, any FSU team that heads to Miami for a series and wins it must be considered a contender. I know, I know, 2007 Miami Hurricanes Baseball has been up and down all season, but they’ve been in FSU’s head for a while. A series victory (Game 2 was a come from behind win) is HUGE for the Noles’ mental health. They’ve won the first 2 “critical” series. Clemson and Georgia Tech remain. Win those series too, and I can’t see how the Noles don’t get a National #1 seed. Then again, we are talking about the NCAA…
FSU Softball – Drama spilled over into the Seminole Softball series against UNC also. A dramatic two home run seventh inning (Yuruby Alicart and Brittany Osmon) gave FSU a 3-2 victory over the Tar Heels. FSU also picked up a 6-3 victory to win the series. The Noles locked up the #4 seed for the ACC Tournament, which is being held at FSU’s JoAnne Graf Field starting May 10.
FSU Football – That little thing called the NFL Draft happened over the weekend. Here are my quick predictions for the guys that were drafted.
Lawrence Timmons (#15 overall – Steelers) – Pay attention Seminole fans. In the Pittsburgh scheme he will be a star someday.
Buster Davis (#69 overall – Cardinals) – Arizona is FSU happy lately. Davis will make an impact, just like an “undersized” Zach Thomas has done for Miami.
Lorenzo Booker (#71 overall – Dolphins) – As a Jets fan, I’m pleased with Miami’s pick. Booker will be irrelevant in the league, but he might be great on Dancing With The Stars someday.
Mario Henderson (#91 overall – Raiders) – I feel bad that Mario is going to the Raiders organization, but he should see playing time. Oakland needs people to protect JaMarcus Russell.
Chris Davis (#128 overall – Titans) – Once hailed as FSU’s next Peter Warrick, let’s hope for his sake, that Davis’s NFL career is nothing like Warrick’s.

I saw that the Softball Team managed to score runs for T-Mac, but blew the game with errors. I was pleased to see they took the other two games. It was great seeing Posey hit the gand slam in game two of the Miami series.
You wantin us to bail you out AGAIN?
