Got Team Colors?

The Medcalf's House Divided

By Bill Kristoph

There are die-hard fans, then there are DIE-HARD fans. Drew and Lisa Medcalf of Tallahassee, FL fall into the latter category. They’ve painted their house down-the-middle, one half Gator Orange and Blue and the better half Seminole Garnet & Gold as part of winning a contest sponsored by The Home Depot and Glidden Paints. The Medcalf’s won the team colors paint-job, a $5,000 gift card to The Home Depot and, thankfully for their neighbors, a post-game paint job in the color of their choice.

The Medcalf Family

For Seminole fans everywhere, let’s hope the couple hasn’t wagered the final color of the house based on the result of the UF-FSU game on November 25, or that Orange & Blue might stick around.

What are your thoughts?

The colors could be worse. I’m sure their neighbors will be happier after next weekend though. The garnet and gold side is more pleasing to the eye, if given the choice between the two color schemes.

Generally I agree of course, but I do like the green garage door trim on the Gator side of things.

That is awesome. Thanks for the story, Bill.

Both color schemes – hideous on a house. I’m an architect. I know these things.

  1. [...] Joel’s quick to point out that his hands aren’t clean. He has taken some freebies over the years, but then again, who hasn’t? Well, me, but that’s because I haven’t had the opportunity. Even with the small, but growing, success of ScalpEm.com, I was contacted to promote a Home Depot contest that involved the FSU / UF Rivalry game. I promoted it, freely, because I thought it was fun and it was local to Tallahassee. When the marketers came back wanting me to post about a contest where winners would go “Behind The Scenes With College Gameday” I declined. If they want that kind of advertising, they can buy an ad on the site. I don’t charge much! [...]
