Some Final Thoughts On The UF Game (and other stuff)

I cannot coherently come up with my thoughts this week to create a traditional article. The beatdown (and yes, it was a beatdown, despite what the score indicates) has drained me of my normal positive thoughts. Instead, this week, I present the thoughts and rants that I have been thinking about this week.’,'- Coach Bobby Bowden will soon prove if he will do what is best for the program, and not best for his friendships.
- How many times has Mickey Andrews fielded a defense that was capable of winning a national title, only to see questionable offensive gameplans make life a struggle for FSU?
- Chris Leak is as good as advertised. Pro scouts must be salivating.
- Would it have been too much to ask that FSU runs the ball up the middle? Leon gained eight yards on one of the few attempts he received. Heck, maybe that whole “weak spot” should have been exploited. But then again, I am just a Playstation All-Star, what do I know?
- I hate night games for taking pictures.
- People have been wondering why the home fans were low-key at times. Well, it is hard to be “up” for a game when you know that the S.O.S. is coming from upstairs in the booth.
- People that are quick to scold Jeff Bowden and not Coach Dickey baffle me. Put it this way, the offense has not gotten better, and neither has Chris Rix. When you are a teacher, and your traditional methods do not work, then you must find an alternate way to teach the student. FSU’s coaching staff has yet to figure that out.
- Watch the Bobby Bowden show following the game. Sometimes it makes me wonder if he saw the same game as the rest of the Seminoles.
- Is it me, or does FSU no longer have any fast receivers? Remember when guys like E.G. Green and Peter Warrick would catch a 10 yard post and then outrun the other guys for the other 40 yards and a TD?
- I did not ever hate Florida coach Ron Zook. In fact, I enjoyed watching his players put him up on their shoulders. It made me smile, because I had the thought that, no matter how many games Steve Spurrier wins at South Caronlina, you will not see that. Spurrier is a winner, but he is also a ‘Cock. Wink
- As much as I loved Wyatt Sexton replacing Chris Rix, my gut feeling tells me that if Coach Bowden is fair next spring, then Wyatt will go the way of “The Rooster” Marcus Outzen.
- I am still bummed out that we took Texas A&M off of the schedule. I was looking forward to seeing “The 12th Man” in person.
- Congratulations to all of the other sites out there for their coverage of the game, and a bigger congrats to all of the posters on the Seminole and Gator message boards. Everyone kept things fiesty and fun, but generally not hurtful. In light of games like South Carolina and Clemson, I think that it shows the classiness of both programs.
- I hope that the Seminole coaching changes come before the bowl game. Otherwise, if West Virginia ends up being the opponent, it will be another beat down.
- I also hope that Gary Cismesia shook off those two kicks. You have a long career ahead of you Gary, do not worry about two kicks!
- Xavier Beitia brought a huge smile to my face with his 51 yard field goal. Judging the video tape, for the first time in a long time, it looked like he did not think about it, he just did it.
- Thank you to everyone that has read my articles here this season. I promise to do my best to cover some angles that the big guys might not have time for, or do not see fit to cover. Here’s to basketball and baseball season, and recruiting more friends to write articles at the site!
