…AT LEAST WHEN THEY COME OUT OF THE TUNNEL. Then, I go back to wearing garnet and gold.

Every week, the Dukies are underdogs. They have less talent than many 1-AA schools. They cannot recruit with the big boys and they have no depth. They are the door mat of the ACC. Yet, every week, every freakin’ week, they go out and play inspired. Every week they have a chance to make some noise, to pull off the big upset. Every game is their most important game.

That is what I appreciate and want to see on Saturdays. If I step on any toes here, sorry, but I feel the need to say that FSU has not played with any real inspiration in some time. (That inspiration is on the sideline at NC State.) Sure, there is the occassional Virginia game, but what you saw against Maryland, Syracuse, Wake, etc, etc, etc, has become the norm.

Yes, I know we are THE FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. I realize that EVERYONE plays up for us. I realize that it is difficult to be “Miami pumped” every week. However, when you are supposed to be eyeing the big trophy, there should always be extra electricity in your step. That charge has been missing for a few years…missing from the players and coaches. No inspiration, lack of concentration, lack of preparation.

I have no idea when or where this STUPID tradition developed where we boo the opposing team when they come out of the tunnel, but this week true Noles fans should stand and cheer for the Blue Devils when they exit the tunnel. And, if you really feel the need to boo somebody, boo the home team as they exit…and then cheer like mad for the garnet and gold from kickoff ’til the end of the game.
